The Family Centered Step-down NICU Unit, located in Children's Hospital of Central California, was designed to help enable parents adjust to caring for their infants. The children, formally in the NICU, are ready to go home but the parents need to learn to care for them. The garden theme, with picket fences, bird houses and flowers, along with the cheerful colors ease the fears of nervous parents while distracting them from the necessary medical equipment.
