Delano Union School District
Delano, CA - 2005
The Delano Educational Complex is composed of a new Elementary School and Middle School. The two schools share a central kitchen as well as a library/media center. Although the schools share some facilities, the District made it clear that the two schools were to be independent and each have its own identity. Each school develops its own frontage and its own distinct point of entry into its respective campus. Each school is designed around a central core, which also serves as an amphitheater. All buildings focus into the central core allowing excellent supervision, and a limited number of access points, which can be secured. To further the feelings of two independent campuses the shared use buildings were designed in such a way as to give the feelings that they enclose their end of their respective campus while still allowing access between the two Each of the schools will benefit from the advantages of shared usage while still maintaining their own identity. |
