Turlock Joint Union High School District
Turlock, CA  -  2002
The site design for the new high school has been planned for ease of access with major buildings arranged along Christopherson Parkway presenting a unified front to the planned expressway. The remaining buildings are organized around an asymmetrical central quad resulting in a safe place for students that is easy to supervise. Performing Arts, athletic facilities and the Multi-Purpose Building are all located for convenient community access. The site planning has been accomplished with concern given to making the facility a community asset as well as functional to District needs. Each building is a unique building with its own sculptural elements designed around its functional requirements. The various buildings are unified via building materials, colors, and the sparing use of barrel roof elements on buildings and covered canopies. A modest use of brick veneer was incorporated into the design that characterized the original school buildings in the District.
