Wuksachi Village
Sequoia National Park, CA  -  1999
Even though the Wuksachi Village Lodge and lodging at Sequoia National Park were the first new facilities to be built in a National Park in over 25 years, they were designed to look like they evolved over time. This was accomplished by mixing the styles of Mission, rustic, and native American themes. Motifs taken from Navaho weavings were repeated in carpet insets, metal strapping, tile patterns and stenciling. Natural finishes, such as granite, cedar siding and rustic timbers blend with the environment.
