Last week, firm Associate Leslie Rau was recognized as one of the top 40 under 40 in Central California. We are proud of Leslie for all of the outstanding work she does for the firm and in our community.
The “40 Under 40” reception, presented by Business Street Online, recognizes outstanding business professionals in the private and public sectors of central California who have yet to reach the age of 40. They have demonstrated a strong work ethic, and are the leaders of today as well as tomorrow.
Each year, Business Street Online holds a networking reception, which the public can attend, to celebrate the accomplishments and hard work of these young rising stars. Can celebrate our honorees for the 10th Annual Business Street’s ’40 Under 40′! This year, the event was hosted by Bitwise, at their South Stadium location. A number of Darden firm principals and members of Leslie’s family attended the event to celebrate her achievement.
Over 100 individuals were nominated, Leslie learned of her selection in the end of November. When asked how she felt about receiving the award, Leslie responded, “It was quite an honor, and humbling when you saw the other people who received the awards.” She went on to joke that, “It’s also proof that I’m under 40!”
In addition to her leadership in the interior Design Studio with the firm, Leslie is a member of the rotary club, serves as a member of the Valley Animal Shelter Board, and recently completed her term as president of the local chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).
Leslie spoke of this involvement saying, “It’s important to give back because it represents the firm, and it makes you a better person. It changes your perspective.” Darden Architects is supportive of this sort of involvement for staff members. We believe it is this sort of contribution to our community and involvement that enriches our firm culture and contributes to a positive work-life balance.

Leslie began her career with Darden Architects as an Interior Design Studio intern, and now runs her own projects, manages staff, and offers daily leadership as an Associate with the firm. Her positive attitude, Industrious work-ethic and design talent are among the reasons we are glad to have her on the Darden team. We are proud to see Leslie receive this recognition, she is truly one of the Central Valley’s future leaders.
